Walks in and around Bagshot
Much of the woodland north of Bagshot is either designated 'open access' or has permissive access for exercise on foot. Further north across the county boundary into Berkshire and cycling is permitted subject to a licence bought from The Outlook. Bagshot Heath south of the motorway (now called Lightwater Country Park) also provides open access and can be reached from Whitmoor Road by a footbridge across the motorway.
There are currently two walk descriptions provided on my website.
-
Rapley Lake. A pleasant, though sometimes muddy,
short walk of about 4.5 km (3 mile) through Crown Estate woodland to a
picturesque lake.
"I enjoyed this work thoroughly.. both my wife and I had a wonderful time and had a picnic on 29 September. The weather was beautifully warm." Ernest 8073.908 - A walk crossing the borders of Bagshot, Windlesham and Lightwater. A level, though sometimes muddy, walk of about 7 km (4.5 mile) over varied terrain.
Did you know:
- Walking briskly for 21 minutes can burn off about the same number of calories as a 15 minute bike ride or a medium leval aerobic workout, But with no gym fees or equipment costs.
- Increasing your pace from 3.5 to 4.5 mph burns 50% more calories
- Brisk walking releases endorphins and moves oxygen to the brain. This can help lower anxiety, increase wellbeing and leave you more relaxed.
- Experts suggest walking 10,000 steps a day.
