The countryside access laws (CROW Act) provide for public access to much
undeveloped land. There is one area within Bagshot that is designated under
the Act but since this was open access anyway the Act had no particular
influence. The area should be shown by
link, but if that does not work go to
and enter Easting 489144 Northing 163380. There is further access land
on Bagshot Heath south of the motorway (now known as Lightwater Country Park)
which again was open access anyway.
Much of the Crown Estate woodland north of Bagshot now has permissive access.
There are currently two walk descriptions provided on my website and a further
four provided by the local council (to which an introduction is given
Rapley Lake. A pleasant, though sometimes muddy,
short walk of about 4.5 km (3 mile) through Crown Estate woodland to a
picturesque lake. "I enjoyed this work thoroughly.. both my wife and I had a wonderful time
and had a picnic on 29 September. The weather was beautifully warm." Ernest
